Circuit City / Kodak Contest Helps Shelters
We're always so focused on people and companies who do harm to our faithful four-legged companions that we sometimes forget to honor the people and companies who do good for them.
Kodak and Circuit City (via their Firedog service) have been running a contest to find the next dog to represent the firedog service in advertisting.
In addition to the prize of having their dog appear in a nationally televised commerical, the local humane society of the winner's choice will receive $50,000. Additionally, each of the 20 finalists will see their favorite local humane society awarded $1,000. But, like they say in infomercials, "that's not all!"
In addition, the 20 humane societies chosen by the finalists will split a prize pool of up to $100,000 based on the results of the online voting. Altogether, the 20 animal charities could share donations totaling $170,000.
To qualify to receive a donation from the contest, a humane society must 1) be active in providing safe shelters, fostering, or adoptive services for canines, 2) be a "no-kill" shelter, and 3) be registered as a 501 (c)(3) tax- exempt free entity, subject to Sponsors' approval. Full contest rules available at www.firedog.com/kodak.
You can do your part and help raise money for these deserving shelters by simply visiting www.firedog.com/kodak and voting for your favorite picture among the 20 finalists.
