Pennsylvania Dog Killer's Other Dogs Need Homes
In all my reading about Arnold Eugene Wheeler, the Saylorsburg (Pennsylvania) man recently convicted on reduced "scattering rubbish" charges for shooting 4 of his dogs because he could no longer care for them and dumping their bodies along the side of a road, I never read that he had additional dogs.
Thankfully, Wheeler handed Ralphy (a 4-year-old German Shepherd Dog) and Stewy (a 4-year-old mixed Shepherd breed) over to the SPCA before his conviction. Wheeler's two surviving dogs still need homes.
According to forms submitted by Wheeler when he surrendered the dogs, neither dog is neutered or has a history of biting.
I can't be the only one angry about Wheeler's ridiculous 30-day sentence and $200 fine for shooting 4 dogs (he had to shoot them repeatedly, as none died with one shot) and disposing of them as trash. Here's a chance for Lehigh Valley PA dog lovers to make a difference in the situation. I shudder to think what could happen if these dogs are still available when Wheeler is released from jail.
The telephone number for the Stroudsburg SPCA is (570) 421-6761. Their web site says they will adopt to homes in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and New York.
